Today has been an exciting milestone in our Year of Reading celebrations at St Wilfrid’s Bishop Auckland, as we welcomed acclaimed local author Lisette Auton into school! ????
Lisette is well-known for her imaginative storytelling, creative workshops, and her passion for empowering young voices — and this morning, our pupils had the wonderful opportunity to hear all about her journey to becoming a published author. From early inspirations to overcoming challenges, Lisette shared insights that truly captured the children’s attention and ignited their curiosity.
Inspiring Young Writers
During her visit, Lisette talked about:
- How she first discovered her love of writing
- What inspires her stories and characters
- The creative process behind crafting a book
- Why every young person has a story worth telling
Her message was simple but powerful: creativity belongs to everyone.
Creative Workshops Throughout the Day
The inspiration didn’t stop with the morning assembly. Throughout the day, Lisette has been leading hands‑on writing workshops, guiding pupils as they build characters, explore imaginative ideas, and craft their very own stories. ✨????
These sessions are a brilliant way to boost confidence, spark creativity, and encourage children to see themselves as authors.
A Memorable Moment in Our Year of Reading
Lisette’s visit is just one of the exciting activities planned as part of our Year of Reading, a whole‑school initiative designed to foster a lifelong love of books, stories, and literacy.
We’re incredibly grateful to Lisette for spending the day with us and for inspiring our pupils to dream big, write boldly, and let their imaginations flourish.
