Year 1 pupils at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School, Bishop Auckland, had an amazing time diving into the classic story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
As part of their learning, the children took on a creative challenge: designing and building chairs using different materials to discover which were the strongest. This hands-on activity encouraged problem-solving and teamwork while linking perfectly to the tale’s theme.
The fun didn’t stop there! Pupils also wrote step-by-step instructions on how to make porridge, putting their writing skills into action by cooking and tasting porridge—just like the Three Bears themselves.
This exciting project combined literacy, science, and practical skills, making learning both engaging and memorable for our Year 1 class.
