On Tuesday 27th January our athletics team took part in the Bishop Auckland Schools Sporthall Athletics event. This was held at Bishop Barrington School and we were one of three teams from the Bishop Auckland Area.
We took part in a variety of events including relay races, long jump, triple jump, speed bounce and javelin. Each child had to complete a running race and a throw or a jump.
All of the children had a great time and they showed true competitive spirit, not only giving everything they had in their own event but also by cheering on their team mates. Each child scored points which were added to one main score for the team at the end.
We won lots of races and expectation was running high for a good result. Eventually the scores were read out and we were thrilled to take 1st place in this heat. We now need to hold our breath as the rest of the schools in the area will have their heats in the following few weeks and when all the scores are in there will be an overall event winner.
